Baugur Goes Into Administration

The UK business of Icelandic investor Baugur, BG Holding, has been put into administration by its main creditor Landsbanki, an Icelandic bank. Baugur owns stakes in UK chains such as House of Fraser, Hamleys, Iceland, Goldsmiths, Mappin & Webb & Watches of Switzerland.

Zavvi Goes Into Administration

24 Dec '08 Entertainment chain Zavvi has gone into administration, Ernst & Young has announced. The chain was badly affected by the demise of Woolworths, which was a main supplier (EUK) and which forced the chain to stop taking new orders via its website. Up to 3,400 jobs could be lost.
