Travelling to the Airport - Bus, Road or Rail
Using The Bus
Use on the many bus or rail services available to you to make your way into the city centre. Whether you travel by rail, Ulster Bus, Metro Bus Services or the Glider, once in the city centre it not far for you to make your way to the Europa bus station. The bus service you require is the:
Airport Express 600 Service
This bus service to and from the airport can be boarded at the designated stand at the Europa bus station if you're going to the airport or in front of the terminal building if you have just arrived in Belfast and are exiting the airport.
This bus service is available every 30 minutes (peak time) and only takes about 10 minutes into the city despite peak time traffic. For off-peak timetable information please contact Translink's website.
Whilst tickets for this bus service are available onboard, should you wish to plan your journey in advance you can also purchase tickets (using cash or contactless) from the bus station, the Visit Belfast desk on the airport's main concourse or from the ticket machine at the bus shelter outside the airport.
Using The Train
The closest railway station to the aiport is called Sydenham, which provides services to and Bangor and to and from Belfast. Northern Ireland Railways, which is part of Translink operate the service and you can visit their website for onward journey planning by rail or bus.
The disadvantage of travelling by rail is that the train station was closer to Belfast City Airport's old terminal building that the current terminal building which is a problem if you have heavy luggage but if you are travelling to the airport them Sydenham station is you stop. Then simply follow the signs across the footbridge, up the Sydenham Bypass to the terminal.
If you have just arrived in Belfast then it's the reverse for you, exit the terminl building, follow the signs down the Sydenham Bypass, cross the footbridge where you can then avail of service either towards Holywood and Bangor or towards Belfast two main stations. The first station was previously called Belfast Central station but has now been rebranded Lanyon Place railway station. This station is not as central as its name claimed and although it is close for some offices and for facilities such as Saint George's Market it requires a bus ride if you have a disability or luggage. The second station is called Great Victoria Street station. This station is currently part of plan to create a new transport hub, this new facility will evetually be named Belfast Grand Central Station.
It should be noted that a courtesy bus is available free of charge to and from the station and the terminal building. This can be requested from the bus and coach stop to the left as you exit the terminal building but how you request it if you're at the station and need a ride to the terminal, I don't know, but if you do let us know and we'll update this article!

How to get to Belfast International Airport
Unfortunately, the International Airport has no rail link so your options are really limited to the road. We'll take a look at available bus services and the routes you could use by car or taxi.
The good news is that Translink which provides bus services in Northern Ireland, provides regular services to Belfast City Centre as well as other destinations such as Lisburn City.
Belfast International Airport - By Bus
If you are travelling to the airport, the bus you need is the 'Airport Express 300' which you can catch at its desinated stand in the Europa bus station.
If you are arriving into Belfast International you can board the 'Airport Express 300' bus just outside the main terminal building.
This designated bus service operates to and from the airport 7 days a week and every 15 minutes during peak times Monday to Friday. It's timetable is designed to accomodate the airport's schedule and get you to your checkin on time.
Check out the translink via this link http://journeyplanner.translink.co.uk/mobile/TTB/20230927-105919/nir/13300AHy20_TP.pdf
Tickets for the Airport Express 300 can be purchased onboard but if you wish to plan ahead you can purchase advance tickets from the bus station in Belfast, the tourist information desk in the arrivals hall in the terminal building or via your Smartphone.
At the time of writing this article a single journey ticket on this service to Belfast or from Belfast International Airport is £8.50. A return journey ticket works out better value at £12.50 but the return has to be used within 1 month.
A typical journey time is between 30 to 40 minutes but this can always be impacted by the unexpected or by traffic so you should allow plenty of time to ensure you are not late for check in.

Parking at Belfast International
The airport's short stay car park, which has a drop of zone charge's a minimum £3 charge and is located beyond the drop off zone situated just in front of the terminal building. The drop off zone in front of the terminal building also attracts a minimum £3, so choose wisely! The airport facilitates 'Blue Badge' holders free access to the short term car park for up to 30 minutes for the purpose of picking up or dropping off but you have to get your ticket validated by the car park office or by calling a member of the car parking team to the exit barrier - not exactly ideal! Like most airport's there are various parking options, most of which if you choose wrongly can be an expensive mistake - so plan and select the best option of you.
