Ards Nature Reserve

Ards Nature Reserve is officially called Kiltonga Nature Reserve and is situated on the Belfast Road on the way into Newtownards when travelling from Belfast.

The attraction which has parking just off the Belfast Road harbours a variety of swans, mallards, little grebe, moorhens, coots and geese but beware the geese and gulls are not shy! Other wildlife is present including rats.

Kiltonga comprises of a pathway running around the reserve's lake, so you get a little exercise whilst admiring nature.

The Kiltonga Nature Reserve is quite small and there are no public facilities at the site other than the occasional ice cream van, so bring food and drink for yourselves and the birds. Should you need toilet facilities the nearby Ards Shopping Centre or Newtownards town itself offers both toilets and cafe facilities.
