Carl Frampton Belfast Homecoming
Carl Frampton has celebrated a homecoming tribute at Belfast City Hall with the grounds swarming with fans and w ell wishers whilst outside the grounds, tourists joined in the fun.
The event was hosted by Northern Ireland's First and Deputy First Ministers Arlene Foster and Martin McGuinness in conjunction with NI Sports Minister Paul Givan and Belfast Lord Mayor Alderman Brian Kingston.
The compare of the event was Northern Ireland's very own Jackie Fullerton who first, introduced and chatted with the Lord Mayor and the NI Sports Minister. Next up were NI First and Deputy First Ministers Arlene Foster and Martin McGuinness, which presented the only slight downside to the event with Mr McGuinness being booed by a few in the vast crowd.
Shortly after, Jackie started to roll out the real stars Shane McGuigan and then Barry McGuigan as a prelude to 'The Jackal'. Soon the Tiger's Bay man Carl Frampton and his children were centre stage in conversation with Jackie where he stated his determination to bring the fight back to Belfast. Then the first Northern Ireland boxer to win world championships at two different weights asked Belfast to support a young boy who needs medical care in the US, by visiting the crowd funding web page.
The Belfast homecoming saw the world class champ take a selfie of himself with the Belfast fans as the background and as the event came to an end fans ran to position themselves to have shirts signed and selfie taken.
Noticeably in the photos below few in vast crowd were without a camera or camera phone, they where there and wanted to record the moment, with even Carl determined to record his own memory. As you can see even Belfast City Councillors and Northern Ireland's MLA's and MP's didn't want to miss the event, with many happily standing facing the crowd clicking away on their phones and cameras capturing that Kodak moment.
The Belfast event was a great success with clips of Carl Frampton's New York boxing victory broadcast on the Big Screen at City Hall. Belfast showed its pride in Carl and shone in front of its many tourists who will leave this city broadcasting that Belfast, its people, its attractions, like Carl Frampton are world class!
