SS Nomadic Opens Titanic Quarter Belfast
The SS Nomadic originally built to ferry passengers to the Titanic from Cherbourg in France as the port in 1912 was too small to facilitate the docking of the world's largest ship, has opened to the public after being fully restored.
The SS Nomadic was brought back to Belfast and restored at Harland & Wolff, builders of world famous RMS Titanic. It now sits facing the new Belfast Titanic tourist attraction opened in 2012 as part of the Titanic Centenary Commemorations.
Following a £7 million make over the ship has been returned to its former glory and ready to service Belfast's growing tourist market. It is hoped that the SS Nomadic was is located at Hamilton Dock, Queens Road, Belfast BT3 9DT in Titanic Quarter will see 40,000 visitors a year,
The SS Nomadic which has been opened for the last two years to the public after being brought back to life by the Nomadic Charitable Trust is now being transferred to Titanic Belfast (9th April 2015).
It is thought that the last remaining White Star ship will now be packaged and priced allowing visitors a joint tour of both Titanic Belfast and SS Nomadic at a more competitive and tourist friendly price.
Following restoration the latest Belfast visitor attraction is available for weddings, functions, tours and visits. It is an important part of RMS Titanic history as is its roll of ferrying passengers to the ill fated liner in Cherbourg. Having viewed our photographs of the exterior of the ship why not visit the ship and see its interior and experience what Titanic's passengers would have seen back in 1912.
