Northern Ireland Police Museum
Many people across Northern Ireland are unaware that the police have a museum at police Headquarters at Knock in East Belfast and it is not widely marketed to tourists visiting the city.
However, the police museum is really an integral part of NI history, which was set up in the 1980's to outline the history of policing in Northern Ireland from the times before Ireland was divided, through to the history of both the RUC and Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI). As many know NI policing has often been contentious and the museum which is small, has exhibits including police uniforms, equipment, medals and archives from the early 1800's to the present day and demonstrates all aspects of policing in a timeline fashion. The exhibits also include weapons used against the police service over the years. The museum offers the personal touch with the Curator explaining each of the exhibits to you which takes about 40 minutes.
If you want to visit, the museum is open to the public from 10am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday but you or your party can book ahead using
