Victoria Park East Belfast
According to Belfast City Council the Victoria Park in East Belfast is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Victoria Park was opened in 1906 and was originally landscaped by Charles McKimm, who may be better known for building the Tropical Ravine in Botanic Gardens in South Belfast. The Park is popular with locals, bowlers, walkers, plane spotters and cyclists but Belfast City Council in their wisdom have decided to demolish the toilets as part of the Connswater Community Greenway development, so if you're having a day out, their advice - hold it in?
Actually, it not that bad, their advice is to use the toilets at the bowling pavilion.
Anyone who has ever used the park will probably say two things, the first is how hard it is to find and the second watch out when feeding the geese, they'll swam you! In the sun it can make a great day out in the heart of East Belfast and remarkably quite considering it borders the busy Sydenham Bypass.
Despite the nearby George Best Belfast City Airport not liking the parks birds for obvious reasons the park's lake is home to swans, geese, herons and ducks - all you need to please the children - so enjoy what's on your doorstep!
