Seaside Revival: Bangor's Vintage Car Festival
Bangor was filled with nostalgia this weekend as thousands of people flocked to the seaside town to relive
fashions, trends and cars of the past in its 'Seaside Revival'. The festival made use of Bangor's extensive
central shorefront to showcase the town and included live music, classic vehicles, market stalls and sideshows
making it a great free family day out with something for everyone.
The festival paid homage to Bangor's past as Northern Ireland's premier summer day trip and holiday resort,
whilst pathing its vision for a brighter future as the town plans to rejuvenate the seafront. The event was
widely welcomed as the seafront and the once picturesque Queen's Parade has fallen far from the heights of
its glorious past and is now dilapidated waiting yet again for plans to develop the area to start.
As you can see from this photo album at the heart of the festival, in the Queen's Parade car park was the
vintage vehicle exhibition showcasing a range of vehicles including cars, bikes, and vans. The photographs
below will have you reminiscing of the once great cars we used to drive here in Northern Ireland.
If the vintage cars don't peak your interest, then maybe the market stalls would have. The stalls lined the
route from Bangor's famous clock tower along the entire lenght of the marina, leading visitors on a journey
of fun right round to the Pickie Pool complex.
It is anticapted that these festivities will take place on an annual basis so keep an eye on the council's
event website to make sure you are part of next year's fun. Remember there are great parking facilities in the
town and excellent bus and railway services from Belfast, so next year there is no excuse not to join in
the fun.
