Belmont East Belfast
The Belmont area of East Belfast is a vibrant neighborhood rich in history and with excellent amenities.
With views of the world famous Harland & Wolff Cranes, Belmont is a bustling shopping district and is a
sought-after reidential area just a mile or two from the heart of Belfast City Centre.
The Belmont Road is a main thoroughfare in East Belfast and is lined with a variety of boutiques, cafes,
and restaurants, providing everything from artisan bread to unique gifts. At the intersection of the
Holywood Road and Belmont Road sits the Strand Arts Centre, also known as the Strand Cinema. This iconic
venue is an independent four-screen cinema opened in 1935 and is currently undergoing major improvements.
At the same junction is one of Belfast's largest churches CFC, which used to sit facing the Park Avenue
Hotel. When the hotel closed the land was repurposed and now houses both social and private housing.
Belmont benefits from several well-regarded schools nearby including Strandtown Primary School, Belmont
Primary, Greenwood Primary, Campbell College Junior School, Campbell College, Strathearn School, Bloomfield
Collegiate, Ashfield Boys' High and Ashfield Girls' High.
Just a short walk from Belmont, is CS Lewis Square which forms part of the Connswater Greenway a public
space for walks and community events. This beautifully designed public space pays tribute to the famous
author, who spent his childhood in the area, and features sculptures and gardens that celebrate his
literary legacy, the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Belmont also has some beautiful parks and green spaces to be enjoyed by all the family, including Belmont
Park, the Stormont Estate and the Craigantlet Hills.

look into the history and development of the neighborhood. The book explores the transformation of Belmont
from its early days highlighting unique local history.
For those interested in politics the Belmont area of Belfast is also home to the headquarters of
two of Northern Ireland's most popular Unionist Parties, the DUP Democratic Unionist
Party and the Ulster Unionist Party UUP.
