Cherryvalley Belfast
Once a hidden gem in the outter suburbs of East Belfast, Cherryvalley is now a vibrant residential 'village'
known for its community spirit and rich history. Back in the day, Cherryvalley was considered one of Northern
Ireland's most affluent and exclusive residential areas, sitting alongside areas such as Stormont and Malone Road
in south Belfast.
During the '70s and '80s Cherryvalley was made famous by renowned Northern Irish comedian James Young, who used
his sharp wit and observational humour to break down community barriers, tickling the funny bone of the nation
with characters such as the 'Cherryvalley Lady'.
Cherryvalley, continues to be a sought after and desirable place to live. The area has a variety of local shops
including essential grocery stores such as the Co Op, Supervalu situated close by in the Kings Square Shopping
Centre and the Spar situated in Cherryvalley Service Station on the Gilnahirk Road. The area also benefits from
local schools, churches and even care homes. Transport links are another highlight of Cherryvalley. With easy
access to major bus routes and roads, commuting to Belfast City Centre and beyond is straightforward, making it
a favored spot for professionals who appreciate a quick journey to work while enjoying the peace of suburban
life.
Within 5 minutes drive there are many other great facilities, for those interested in walking and nature there is
the Comber Greenway or the Stormont Estate. For entertainment and leisure, there are facilities such as David
Lloyd Leisure and Dundonald International Icebowl, which provides year-round ice skating and bowling fun. For
those interested in dinning out, the Eastpoint Complex close to the Ice Bowl provides various dinning options
and of course there are also restaurants within a few minutes drive of Cherryvalley, in Ballyhackamore.
Cherryvalley, Belfast means something different to everyone but for those interested in the area's history, local
author Aidan Campbell's has designed a book called, "Cherryvalley" which captures the character of the area and
